Printing discussions

Does regular silver need a white underbase on black shirts or can you just flash print, like white?

 * Yes, I do use clear UL and it makes a big difference.

 * It would not hurt, but might make the silver pop more with a one-stroke print.

I have a customer that wants me to print on Tyvek®. I asked him for more information about the material and that is all he had. Which ink should I try first, poly ink, nylon, air dry? It is a two-colour, royal and black, grey material, single ply, 6″ × 6″ (15 cm × 15 cm imprint. Sounds simple, right?

 * Tyvek is a paper product, you need a Tyvek ink. You cannot print wet on wet, the ink will air dry.

 * I used to work in the book industry. Tyvek is not a paper or a paper-product derivative. It is a synthetic, non-woven polyethylene material (spun-bonded olefin). We decorated by hot-foil stamping, though that was years back and there must be another way. Maybe UV ink?

  1. Tyvek can be printed in screen print with the Printcolor ink 640/650 with Hardner HDA.
